Вышла долгожданная бета, теперь она в дампе
Инструкции по установке:
Before trying to install vbportal 3.0 for vbulletin 3.0 read all of this.
Scenarios
1)Installing the board in /forums and vbportal in /
When a visitor browses your site, they would use http://yourdomain.com/index.php and http://yourdomain.com/forums/index.php to open the portal and board home pages.
When you transfer files to your sites web space, you are uploading to the root of public_html and to a directory/folder called 'forums'
Install the board.
I do this by unpacking the vbulletin files to a directory on my PC. I edit the vbulletin includes/config.php.new file, and rename it as per their instructions. I then upload by FTP to the web sites root (public_html, www, whatever) the sub-directory/folder called 'upload' in the unpacked vbulletin files on my PC. Then I rename 'upload' to 'forums' on the server using FTP again and check the permissions are okay.
You already know how to install the board.
Type something appropriate when asked for the Home title during the vbulletin install (to be shown in the foot of each page), it is used by vbportal. You can edit this later in vbulletin admincp (address).
Unpack the vbportal files to a directory on my PC
open the directory/folder with all the vbportal files and read the vbportalLicense.html and then the readme.txt
upload the vbportal files and directorys/folders to your sites root again, except 'forums in the unpacked vbportal files', leave that just now. Then change the the 'forums/images/misc' on the server and your PC where you unpacked vbportals files and upload the few images added for the portal. Your adding them to the already existing images that came with vbulletin in the directory/folder images/misc that was created when the board was installed.
open http://yourdomain.com/vbpinstall/install.php in a browser and follow the steps, accepting the defaults until your at step6. Check that the URLs and paths look correct and the email address is the one you want to use.
The portal directory should be empty and the bb url and home url should look similar to this
http://yourdomain.com
http://yourdomain.com/forums
with no trailing '/'
In step 8, by accepting the defaults here, you are effectively uploading a new skin to be the portal default and not replacing the forum default.
You can do other things here, but follow my lead for now and get it set up first. You can always go back and do it again later.
Click Continue at step 8 and Next at step 9.
Open your forums admincp in a browser window and go to the vbulletin options and the option group called 'Style & Language Settings' and change the Default Style to 'vbPortal Demo'.
For this execise we are also going to disable users from changing styles so change the option 'Allow Users To Change Styles' to No and save.
If you have only 1 member 'you', then this is okay now as all new members will use the vbportal demo skin now.
If you don't set up vbportal demo as the forum default skin, users than have choosen the forums default theme as their preferred style will get a blank page if they follow a link or try and open a page from the portal because the templates are missing from the style.
You may or might not have changed the value of spacer.gif in vbulletin options. vbportal expects it to be left as spacer.gif and not /forum/spacer.gif or /vb/spacer.gif
Make sense ?
2)Installing the board in /portal/forums and vbportal in /portal (ie vbportal in a directory and the forums in a sub-directory)
When a visitor browses your site, they would use http://yourdomain.com/portal/index.php and http://yourdomain.com/portal/forums/index.php to open the portal and board home pages. These are just examples and could equally be 'vbp' or 'vbportal' for example.
When you transfer files to your sites web space, you are uploading to a sub-directory you create called 'portal' in the public_html (www, whatever) and to a directory/folder called 'portal/forums'
Install the board.
I do this by unpacking the vbulletin files to a directory on my PC. I edit the vbulletin includes/config.php.new file, and rename it as per their instructions. Then I FTP to the server and create the directory/folder called portal. I then upload by FTP to the web sites 'portal' sub-directory/folder the sub-directory/folder called 'upload' in the unpacked vbulletin files on my PC. Then I rename 'upload' to 'forums' on the server using FTP again and check the permissions are okay.
You already know how to install the board but some things to note. The homeurl (step 9) is the link thats in the footer. I would set it to http://yourdomain.com/portal unless you have another page you want to use (/index.html or /index.php)
You can replace vbportal index.php with your own because the vbportal's index page is simply a redirect to modules.php
Type something appropriate when asked for the Home title during the vbulletin install (to be shown in the foot of each page), it is used by vbportal. You can edit this later in vbulletin admincp (address).
Unpack the vbportal files to a directory on my PC
open the directory/folder with all the vbportal files and read the vbportalLicense.html and then the readme.txt
next, open vbportal global.php and change the value for $portal = '';
to
$portal = '/portal';
then open vbportal_demo.css and change two lines that have a path to a background image. These are
background: url(/forums/images/misc/header_background.gif);
and
background: background: #869bbf url(/forums/images/gradients/gradient_tcat.gif) repeat-x top left;
to
background: url(/portal/forums/images/misc/header_background.gif);
and
background: #869bbf url(/portal/forums/images/gradients/gradient_tcat.gif) repeat-x top left;
upload the vbportal files and directorys/folders to your sites sub-directory/folder 'portal', except 'forums' in the unpacked vbportal files, leave that just now. Then change the the 'portal/forums/images/misc' on the server and your PC (forums/images/misc) where you unpacked vbportals files and upload the few images added for the portal use. Your adding them to the already existing images that came with vbulletin in the directory/folder images/misc that was created when the board was installed.
open http://yourdomain.com/portal/vbpinstall/install.php in a browser and follow the steps, accepting the defaults until your at step6. Check that the URLs and paths look correct and the email address is the one you want to use.
The portal directory should be
/portal
and the bb url and home url should look similar to this
http://yourdomain.com/portal
http://yourdomain.com/portal/forums
with no trailing '/'
In step 8, by accepting the defaults here, you are effectively uploading a new skin to be the portal default and not replacing the forum default.
You can do other things here, but follow my lead for now and get it set up first. You can always go back and do it again later.
Click Continue at step 8 and Next at step 9.
Open your forums admincp in a browser window and go to the vbulletin options and the option group called 'Style & Language Settings' and change the Default Style to 'vbPortal Demo'.
For this execise we are also going to disable users from changing styles so change the option 'Allow Users To Change Styles' to No and save.
Open your forums style manager and change to All Style Options for vbportal demo. In here, change all the paths of the images, adding /portal to each
You may or might not have changed the value of spacer.gif in vbulletin options. vbportal expects it to be left as spacer.gif and not /forum/spacer.gif or /vb/spacer.gif
Open the portalcp http://yourdomain.com/portalcp/ and open Options and the group 'Portal Style Options' and change the Portal Image Directory to /portal/images and the Portal Topic Icon Directory to /portal/images/topic
In the portalcp, Banner Manager, edit the path of the demo banners included with vbportal under Client 'Bill'. The 3 vertical banners called are in the images/banners.
You could also just delete these example Clients, banners and /images/banners/*.*.
3) As scenario 1 except you have installed the board in 'forum' or 'vb' for example
Open vbportal's global.php and change $forums = '/forums'; to $forums = '/forum'; or $forums = '/vb';
Open vbportal_demo.css and change the two paths -
background: url(/forums/images/misc/header_background.gif);
and
background: #869bbf url(/forums/images/gradients/gradient_tcat.gif) repeat-x top left;
to
background: url(/forum/images/misc/header_background.gif);
and
background: #869bbf url(/forum/images/gradients/gradient_tcat.gif) repeat-x top left;
or
background: url(/vb/images/misc/header_background.gif);
and
background: #869bbf url(/vb/images/gradients/gradient_tcat.gif) repeat-x top left;
one other file, vbportal search.php you need to change a path-
header("location: forums/search.php?searchid=$_REQUEST[searchid]");
to
header("location: forum/search.php?searchid=$_REQUEST[searchid]");
or
header("location: vb/search.php?searchid=$_REQUEST[searchid]");
(search.php is a temporary file in beta 1 and may be removed in subsequent beta releases)
Open your forums style manager and change to All Style Options for vbportal demo. In here, change all the paths of the images, replacing /forums/ to /forum/ or /vb/ for example
You may or might not have changed the value of spacer.gif in vbulletin options. vbportal expects it to be left as spacer.gif and not /forum/spacer.gif or /vb/spacer.gif

If you already have members on your board and have not installed a clean vbulletin as recommended, then you need to check if a query is required to reset any members choosen style/skin to the forums default (what you set in admincp/options/Style & Language Settings). This would really only be an issue if you also had more than 1 skin/theme already installed on the board and you allowed users to change their choosen skin and of course, users had changed it in their usercp.
Note: vbportal 3.0 beta 1.0 (28mar2004) is still warts & all.
In reponse to much banter in the forums, it was important to give it as is 'now' and deal with the warts after. I have posted a reply in the vbportal 3.0 developers thread a week ago, outlining what is still work in progress and what is to be included in the next or subsequent releases.
This was not a good week for progress, so most of the list is still the same as last week, but thanks to Nightshade and fellow testers for helping there's a number of other issues not mentioned that where fixed and improved in the last week.
The all important manual is still not ready, sorry and its a priority now to help lessen confusion in the new portalcp.
In-line help will also be added at that same time.
Just a basic starter that we will refine as there's probably things missed and also overwriting the vbulletin default skin versus importing new.
If other CMs report they're own experiences (sub-dir installs especially) that would help others (or give them a good laugh).
